The Ambassadors to the Republic of Yemen of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States are extremely concerned that the agreements reached in Stockholm in December 2018 have still not been implemented, including the redeployment of forces from the ports and city of Hodeidah, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the agreement on Taizz.
We strongly support the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy, Martin Griffiths, and the Head of the United Nations Mission in Hodeidah, Michael Lollesgaard, to secure the earliest possible implementation of the arrangements agreed in Stockholm for redeployment from the ports and city of Hodeidah. We call on all sides to ensure the UN monitoring mission can carry out its work safely and without interference. We welcome the latest proposal put to the Government of Yemen and to the Houthis to facilitate implementation of the Hodeidah Agreement and urge both parties to begin implementation of the proposal in good faith without further delay and without seeking to exploit the redeployments by the other side.
In addition we are concerned about the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen, including the shelling of the Red Sea Mills and the fierce fighting in Hajjah Governorate. We reiterate our commitment to a comprehensive political solution based on relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council, GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism and the outcome documents of the Yemeni national dialogue conference.
