The Group Fourteen of Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Yemen met in Jeddah on May 13. The Group welcomed the initiation of the humanitarian pause which is intended to allow on an urgent basis the delivery to all areas of the country the fuel, food, water, and medical supplies that are necessary to prevent great suffering and further loss of innocent lives.
In connection with the many ongoing efforts to provide for the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people, the Fourteen Ambassadors welcomed the inauguration today of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Assistance which with the generous donation of the Saudi government will assist the Government of Yemen, the UN and other organizations in their efforts to deliver aid to the Yemeni people.
Noting the convening on May 17 of the Riyadh Conference, the Group of Fourteen Ambassadors welcomed this as a step that can lead to a political process that will restore stability and legitimacy to Yemen. The Ambassadors affirmed their intention to attend the conference in support of this objective. Inasmuch as the conveners of the Riyadh Conference have extended the invitation to attend to all Yemeni parties, the Group of Fourteen Ambassadors earnestly urge Ansarallah to make use of the opportunity and participate in order to lead as quickly as possible to a return to the peaceful transition that is clearly the desire of the Yemeni people.
